We believe that organisations in the twenty-first century have a responsibility not only for the welfare of their employees but also a moral duty to society at large. Business has the resources and power to make a difference to humankind. At Shilton Sharpe Quarry we wish to contribute our share towards making that difference.

An organisation that pursues and values short-term profits above all else, although successful in generating wealth, does little to assist the personal growth of its staff and even less to the development of our communities.

We therefore see it as our responsibility to create a wealth that enriches the human spirit and serves our shared values as human beings.

At Shilton Sharpe Quarry, amongst other initiatives, we commit to:

• Match any charitable contribution made by a member of staff.
• Support and encourage our staff to work (fully paid) one day a quarter for a charity of their choice.
• Donate a percentage of our profits annually to charities nominated by our staff.

This year SSQ has chosen to support Streetkids, a children’s charity headquartered in Frankfurt. Streetkids seeks to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged children in Tanzania and currently cares for 17 children in two orphanages in Dar es Salaam. For further details please click here.
