Gavin Sharpe took part in an online Legal Week panel debate discussing the issues surrounding diversity in the legal sector. The debate covered issues such as why diversity is important to law firms and companies, the role of clients, how diversity targets can be realistically met and the role that recruitment consultancies and law firms have in pressing for change. Christopher Hurst has joined SSQ’s London office and will be part of the in-house recruitment team.

SSQ, in association with Legal Week, hosted a seminar entitled ‘Diversity – The Greatest Challenge Facing the Legal Community Today?’ on 24 September 2008 in London, attracting over 50 partners and HR professionals from law firms, financial institutions and companies. The guest speaker was Linbert Spencer, Director, Linbert Spencer Consultancy.

SSQ is pleased to announce the establishment of a Law Firm Management recruitment division in London. The Law Firm Management recruitment division will focus on recruiting for senior management level positions across business support areas within law firms. The team is headed by Will Coulter.

Three SSQ employees, Nicola Morris, Till Schöppe and Diana Luczak, from SSQ’s London and Frankfurt offices recently returned from Tanzania supporting Streetkids, a children’s charity headquartered in Frankfurt, which seeks to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged children in Tanzania. They were involved in the development of a reliable water supply to an orphanage through the installation of a pump, piping, generator and water tanks. For further details please click here.

Sarah Cartasegna and Andrea Brugiotti were interviewed for the April 2008 issue of Top Legal in Italy. The interview discusses the issue of lateral hires in the Italian legal market and the required skill set for the ideal partner. Please click here to view the article.

February 2008

SSQ has been nominated as finalists in three categories at the Recruiter 2008 Awards for Excellence in the UK. The awards ceremony will be held on Monday 28th April 2008 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. This follows on from last year’s awards where SSQ won the Best Legal Recruitment Firm category. This year SSQ has chosen to support Streetkids, a children’s charity headquartered in Frankfurt. Streetkids seeks to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged children in Tanzania and currently cares for 17 children in two orphanages in Dar es Salaam. For further details please click here.

Jonathan Field has joined SSQ’s London office and will be part of the private practice recruitment team. He studied at Leeds University and BPP Law School in London prior to training with Allen & Overy in London. Jonathan qualified into the Banking Department at Allen & Overy before joining Shilton Sharpe Quarry. He will be recruiting associates at all levels on behalf of law firms.

Carolin Rose has joined SSQ’s Frankfurt office and will be part of the private practice recruitment team. She studied law at university in Würzburg in Germany and Limerick in Ireland. She qualified as a German lawyer in 2005 and subsequently spent 2 years working as an in-house lawyer for KPMG in Frankfurt in the field of taxation. She will be recruiting associates at all levels on behalf of law firms.


January 2007

Laura Field has joined SSQ’s London office and will be part of the private practice recruitment team. She studied Psychology at Southampton University before starting her career in legal recruitment in 2002 at another well known recruitment consultancy. She will be recruiting associates at all levels on behalf of law firms.
